Leo Cecchini, Russ Misheloff, and Steve Cristofar are working on a trip to Ethiopia for RPCV's this September. The following is information that we have received from them. The Trip Ethiopia & Eritrea RPCVs are arranging a trip to Ethiopia titled " Return to Ethiopia" to commemorate the arrival of the first group of Peace Corps Volunteers in Ethiopia 50 years ago and to celebrate 50 years of Peace Corps service to the country. The trip is open to all RPCVs who served in Ethiopia and Eritrea as well as staff. Historic Route and Harar Tour and Debre Berhan Tour Ethiopia Group Tours (Updated! GETTS Tour Agency Selected for the 9-Day Historic Tour and the Debre Berhan Day Tour) While many may want to make their own "In-Country" tour arrangements, Darrel Hagberg has organized a "Special Group Rate" 9-Day Tour of the Historic Regions of Ethiopia and a Derbre Berhan Day Tour.After a two week study, Grant Express Travel and Tours (GETTS - http://www.getts.com.et/ ) was selected based in part on their excellent reviews at TripAdvisor.Com:GETTS has quoted a group rate on an all-inclusive tour of the Historic Route of Ethiopia for $890 per person. They will also provide booking for the 6 flights for the tour (not the DC flight) for about $324 per person. The actual 6 flight fare will be confirmed at booking of the tour.The tour will include Bahar Dar, Lalibela, Axum, Gondar, Dire Dawa, and Harar, just to name a few. This group tour will leave on September 29 and finish on October 7 with a celebration Dinner show and transfer to the airport (if you wish) for the plane flight home. Also a day trip to Debre Berhan is planned for September 28 for about $50 per person (lunch included). Again let Darrel know of your interest. At the moment, there are 20 registrations for the tours. It is important to let Darrel Hagberg know as soon as possible of your interest to get on the list. You can cancel later in June if you change your mind. Detailed information will follow soon. We have developed a favororite photos web page. Send your photos via E-mail to Betty McLaughlin Hagberg at: Bluejuly@aol.com or you may mail non-returnable photos to: Betty McLaughlin Hagberg, 3722-39th Street Court, Moline, Illinois 61265, USA. Here are the requirements:
1) Any "Peace Corp Volunteer," "PC Administrator" or "Ethiopian Student (or Friend) of a PC Instructor" may submit their favorite photo (s) to Betty.
2) If the photos are sent via E-mail, then they should be scanned are 300 dpi resolution or better. In this case JPEG's are preferred, but almost any format will be accepted (BMP, TIFF, etc.).
3) They may be Black and White or Color.
4) For each photo submitted, provide the following photo Identification: a) Name of photographer, b) Description of photo (to include names of people if possible, place taken, and date for each photo).
5) Provide the photographer's permission (E-mail ok) for "unconditional and unlimited royalty-free use." Please use these words with your permission.
Every effort will be made to include all photos submitted. However, this Web Site reserves the right to include or exclude any submitted photos on its Web pages. Proper credits will be given to the photographer.
