MOLINE — Jean M. Reynolds, 66, of Moline, was called home Friday, October
24, 2008, at her residence.
Memorial services will be 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at DeRoo
Funeral Home, Moline. Those wishing to visit with the family are invited to
the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers
memorials may be made to the Scott County Humane Society.
The former Jean Bandle was born August 23, 1942, in Rock Island, the
daughter of Glen and Freda Peterson Bandle. She married Terry Reynolds May
12, 1961, in Rock Island.
She was employed at the Lutheran Hospital for 15 years and later worked as a
private duty nurse for 20 years.
Jean was a 1960 graduate of Moline High School and was a former member of
First Christian Church, and a volunteer for Milan animal rescue. She loved
animals, especially cats and dogs, which she had a special companion, her
dog “Chucky“. Jean was known as a person who cared for others more than
herself. She adored her grandchildren, and loved her visits to her son
Greg’s home in Hudson, Wisc. to see the deer and other animals. She was also
an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. She will be missed by all who knew
her.
Survivors include her husband, Terry Reynolds, Moline; sons, Gregory
Reynolds, Hudson, Wisc., Michael (Stephanie) Reynolds, Moline, and Scott
(Susan) Reynolds, Davenport; grandchildren, Jenna, Jaymie, Abigail, Eric and
Aaron; brother, Donald Brasch, Johnston, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Carolyn Catron.

special care and for being Jean’s guardian angel.

Karen Anderson Caldwell Passes Away
Karen L. Caldwell, 66, of Rock Island, died Sunday, April 19, 2009, at
Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Services for Mrs. Caldwell will be 10 a.m. Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral
Home, 3030-7th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m.
Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo.
Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial fund that will be
established at a later date.
Karen was born Dec. 26, 1942, in Moline, the daughter of Emil L. and Myra
Lewis Anderson.
Ms. Caldwell was a homemaker. Earlier in her career, she had worked for
Josephson’s Jewelers, Sneff Jewelers and Holland Jewelers. Karen enjoyed
gardening, flowers, shopping and going to the movies.
Survivors include her children, Brad L. Lueders, Rock Island, Kevin R.
Lueders and his wife, Troy, East Moline; grandchildren, Ashley Lyle,
Parkview, Iowa, Joshua Lueders, Rock Island; a sister and brother-in-law,

Richard W. Sovey Passes Away
Richard W. Sovey, 64, of Cambridge, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. Burial will be at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Richard Sovey Memorial Fund.
Dick was born Dec. 7, 1943, in Moline, the son of Glenn R. and Elizabeth Hogan Sovey. He was educated in Moline schools and graduated from Moline High School in 1961. Dick served in the U.S. Navy in the early 1960’s. His marriage to Silvia Nimrick took place on Sept. 12, 1970, in Cambridge. The couple lived most of their married life in Cambridge.
His employment included working in the construction industry until the early 1980’s when he began his career in trucking. He operated his own trucking business for several years, and had worked for Ruan Trucking from Buffalo, Iowa, for the last 15 years.
Dick was a former member of the Cambridge American Legion Post 417, the Annawan 40 & 8, and the VFW. He was a current member of the Kewanee Krashers, a radio controlled model airplane club, and a member and union steward of Teamsters Local 371 in Milan. Dick also took videos of Cambridge High School football games and practices for the last few years.
Survivors include his wife, Silvia; sons and daughters-in-law, Todd and Sharon Sovey, Gardner, Ill., Anthony and Cara Sovey, Cambridge, Adam and Jamee Sovey, Cambridge; a daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Josh Park, Colona; and eight grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Ron Sovey, Davenport, Randy Sovey, Coal Valley; and a sister, Rita Melin, Moline. He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn; his mother, Elizabeth Sovey Bromley; and a brother, Roger Sovey.

Glee Irma Kramer Kohn Passes Away
Glee Irma Kohn, 64, of East Moline, died July 29, 2008, at her home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 31, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, East Moline. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be at Rose-Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church Music Ministry, Heartland Hospice or American Cancer Society.
Glee was born Aug. 2, 1943, in Moline, to Robert and Roberta Fuller Kramer. She married Robert Kohn on June 19, 1965, in East Moline.
Glee taught English and Spanish at United Township High School, retiring in 2001. She was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she was a member of Altar Guild, the church choir and the bell choir. She was a member of the National Education Association and the local chapter of N.E.A. at United Township, and she belonged to Mississippi Valley Dance Association for several years.
Glee is survived by her husband, Robert; daughters, Wendy, East Moline, Stacy and David, Chicago; grandchildren, Alyssa, William “BJ,” Katherine and Owen Robert. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mr. Hinton will have a Masonic service followed by a private family viewing and cremation to follow, as he wished. A private memorial service for Mr. Hinton will be at a later date. Rex was a member of the Blue Lodge of Moline, and a 32nd Degree Mason. He retired from the former International Harvester, Farmall plant, Rock Island, in 1985 as a general foreman of the Assembly Division. He relocated to Camden, Ark., the same year and went to work for Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. He retired in 2003 and relocated to Lafayette in 2004.He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rebecca Coffeen-Hinton, Lafayette; one daughter, Amber Lea Hinton-Sones, Lafayette; one son, Donald Rex Hinton, Jr., and his wife, Pamela Marie; one granddaughter, Bayley Rebecca Sones, Lafayette; one brother, Ben Leon Hinton, Novinger, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben Leslie and Elsie Evelyn Baker-Hinton.
Rex was a very private and loving man who always thought of his family and friends first. The grief of his wife and children is something only time and prayers will lighten. The family wishes to thank Dr. Karen Smith and Dr. Jody Rosson for all their care and thoughtfulness in caring for Rex.
William Paul “Bill” Rohrbach Passes Away
William Paul “Bill” Rohrbach, 64, a well known attorney from Cody, went
to be with our heavenly father Dec. 23, 2007, due to a sudden cardiac event.
Bill was such a warm, energetic, happy individual and was so much a part of
his wife's, three children's, nine grandchildren's, family and friends'
lives that they are still unsure how to fill the void he has left.
Bill was born in Chicago on Feb. 24, 1943, to Raeburn and Delores Rohrbach.
His love of music began at a young age and he was selected for the Moline
Boys Choir in grade school. He was first chair violinist in junior high and
high school. Besides music and his studies, he spent his school days
completing many practical jokes.

Ronald D. Gibb, 62, of Dubuque, Iowa, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at Finley H
ospital, Dubuque.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Dubuque, with the Rev. Merlin Schlichting officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, Dubuque, and also after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. A Ronald D. Gibb memorial fund has been established.
Ronald was born July 13, 1943, in Moline, the son of Bryce and Fern Lewis Gibb. He married Dorothy I. Kennedy on April 24, 1965, in Aledo.
He worked for Iowa Illinois Gas until he moved to Dubuque where he then worked for Dubuque John Deere Tractor Works in plant engineering, until his retirement in 2001.
He was an avid golfer and a member of the Meadows Golf & Country Club. He enjoyed driving his Corvette, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Mary Jo Pynckel Ruggles Passes Away
Services for Mary Jo Ruggles, 58, of 4430 5th Ave., Moline, are 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline.

She died Monday, July 8, 2002, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Mary Jo Kohler was born July 26, 1943, in Moline to Gladys Olson Kohler. She married Don Ruggles Oct. 16, 1969, in Las Vagas, Nev.
She attended Black Hawk College and graduated from Chamberland School of Retailing, Boston, Mass. She enjoyed all flowers and collected orchids. She also collected antiques and recipes.
Survivors include her mother, Gladys Kohler; sons, Christopher Ruggles, Chicago, and Gregory Ruggles, Davenport; and a sister, Margo Georlett, Moline. She was preceded in death by her father.
Robert E. Poston, 61, of Moline died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hope United Church of Christ, Moline, with the Rev. A. Parker Lewis III officiating. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorial donations may be given to United Church of Christ.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline.
Robert Ellison Poston was born Feb. 15, 1943, in Moline, the son of Richard H. and Shirley I. Ellison Poston. Robert was a graduate of Moline High School, class of 1961, and attended Black Hawk College.
He served in the United States Army during Vietnam.
Robert was employed at Foldcraft Company, in Kenyon, Minn., and at Harrington Signal, Moline, as a materials purchasing specialist. For the past several years, Robert has been taking care of his mother. He had become very active at Hope United Church of Christ were he currently was serving as vice president of the church council and attended the Men's Breakfast Group. Robert was a past president of the National Association of Purchasing Agents, and was a member of the Order of DeMolay, Moline. In his spare time, Robert enjoyed collecting Hummels.
Surviving family members include his mother, Shirley Poston, Moline; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Marcia Poston, Cedar Falls, Iowa; two nieces, Holly Fitzpatrick, East Moline, and Terri and Mark Fredricks, Rock Island; and three nephews, Jeff and wife, Jandy Poston, Rock Island, Dave Gross, Des Moines, Iowa, and Doug Gross, Woodstock, Ill. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard A. Poston.

Richard was born Feb. 23, 1943, in Moline, to Roy and Bernice Stenzel Meers. He married Sharon Smith June 1, 1963, in Moline.
He was employed as a supervisor in the salvage department for International Harvester Farmall, Rock Island. He then had two businesses, the Admiral Improvement Co., and the Quad City Contract Service. He last worked at K&K Hardward and then Grisham Towing.
Richard was a member of the church and former member of Farmall Retirees Club. He enjoyed his grandchildren, woodworking and was an avid outdoorsman.

Belva Jean Farrar, 60, of Rock Island passed away suddenly
Saturday night, Nov. 22, 2003, at Scottsdale Healthcare Hospital, Scottsdale,
Ariz.
As she wished, cremation rites have been accorded. A
Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at First United Methodist
Church, Rock Island, in May 2004. Burial will be in National Cemetary, Arsenal
Island.
Jean was born July 30, 1943, in Moline, daughter of Walto and
Anita Kauffman Shepard. She graduated from Moline High School in 1961. She
married Alexander Lemaster in 1966. He preceded her in death in 1984.
In 1995 she married Lee M. Farrar of Rock Island. They enjoyed
traveling and being together. In 2001, after retirement, they purchased a
condominium in Scottsdale and traveled there to reside during the winter months.
They are members of First United Methodist Church, Rock Island.
Jean was employed as a paralegal by various Quad-Cities firms
specializing in real-estate title searching, most recently employed by Meridian
Title Co., Martin Title Co., and Quad City Title Search Co., all of Rock Island.
Jean was a talented quilter, and their homes in Illinois and
Arizona were decorated with her many ideas for sewing and quilting projects. She
also designed and produced many unique embroidered items for family and friends.
She was a member of a local Red Hat Society and enjoyed the association with her
society friends.

R. Michael Schenk, 60, of Moline died on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley.
Memorial services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. Memorials may be made to Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley.
R. Michael Schenk was born March 11, 1943, in Moline, to Erwin and Anna Beede Schenk.
He retired as a school teacher/librarian for Rudyard Michigan Schools in Rudyard, Mich., the Homewood Flossmore Schools and the Moline Public Library.
He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Rock Island County Historical Society and the Monocoupe Club. He volunteered at the Riverside Cemetery Walk as a guide, and he worked on the restoration of the John Deere House, Moline. Through his efforts, the Velie Monocoupe Airplane is on display at the Quad City Airport.
He enjoyed woodcarving and doing architectural drafting.
He is survived by his brothers, John Schenk, Moline, and Robert Schenk, Racine, Wis. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Paul H. Guss Sr., 60, of Moline, died Saturday, June 7, 2003, at his
home.
Paul was born Nov. 16, 1942, in Moline, the son of Robert and Leona Ostrand
Guss. He married Lola Johnson Jan. 18, 1964, in Moline.
He had worked for John Deere Plow Planter, Moline, and John Deere Parts
Distribution Center, Milan, retiring after 30 years of service.
He was a member of Central Baptist Church, Moline, where he was a deacon. He
was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved
watching his grandchildren play ball. He enjoyed collecting Hot Wheels.
Survivors include his wife, Lola Guss, Moline; daughter and son-in-law, Donna
and John Huys, Moline; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Melissa Guss Jr.,
Moline; grandchildren, Christina, Matthew, Nicole and Michael; great-grandsons,
Joshua and David; parents, Robert and Leona Guss, Moline; sisters and
brother-in-law, Barbara Allen, Coal Valley, Annette and Earl Anderson, Moline;
brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Deanna Guss Jr., Moline, Ray and
Margaret Guss, Georgia, Allen and Donna Guss, Moline. He was preceded in death
by a grandson, Paul H. Guss III.
Susan Parsons Quinn, 59, of Moline, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Susan was born June 27, 1943, in Moline, the daughter of Herbert R. and Delta Mae Johnson Parsons. She graduated from Moline High School and attended Illinois State University, Normal. She graduated from the University of Kansas in Lawrence and taught fourth grade in Overland Park, Kan., until her marriage to James G. Quinn Jr. in 1968.
She worked for Deere for 15 years in the product-support area of the Industrial Equipment Divison, at the Administrative Center, the Grimsby Canadian office and the John Deere Dubuque Works. She retired and spent her time enjoying her friends and family and, in particular, her two young grandchildren.
Susan was a voracious reader, a gifted painter and an accomplished knitter.

(Denise) Quinn III, Aurora, Ontario, Canada; daughter, Melissa Quinn, Whistler, British Columbia, Canada; grandchildren, Shamus and Ella Quinn, Aurora, Ontario, Canada; sisters, Ann Parsons, Moline, Martha Parsons, Moline; brother, Herbert R. Roy Richard Culbertson, 58, of Moline, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, in Dixon, Ill., following a heart attack.
Roy was born April 25, 1943, in Moline, the son of James and Gertrude Utterback Culbertson.
Roy worked at Farmall in Rock Island, from 1963 until its closing. He then owned and operated Video 2000 from 1988-1999. He loved bowling.

Young, 58, Rock Island, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at home.

She was born Feb. 10, 1943,
in Moline, the daughter of Clarence and Elsie DeFauw Almquist. She married Tom
Young July 31, 1965, in Moline.
She was a 1961 graduate of
Moline High School and a 1964 graduate of Moline Public School of Nursing.
She was employed by Dr.
Norman Powell for two years followed by 27 years with Moline Public Hospital,
United Medical Center and Trinity Hospitals. Elaine's last employment was with
Drs. Snodgrass and Reddy at Heartcare Midwest last working May 2001.
She enjoyed gardening and
loved animals. Her favorite pastime was playing with her grandchildren.
Mary Jo "Josie" Williams Ashmore Passes Away
