Kenneth J. Sparrowgrove, 69, of Carbon Cliff, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at St.
Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Ill., of a stroke.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Schroder Mortuary,
Silvis. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Burial is at
Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.
He was born May 21, 1942, in Marengo, Iowa, the son of James and Emma
Sparrowgrove. He married Lois Baird on June 8, 1963. She preceded him in death
on Sept. 15, 2001.
He worked as an assembler at John Deere Harvester. Kenneth was a member of the
Moline Conservation Club and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He spent his
leisure time gambling on the riverboats.
He is survived by his daughter, Christine, sons, James (Missy) and Ronnie
(Vickie), all of Rockford, Ill., Keith (Star), Carbon Cliff, Kenneth Jr. (Lorri),
Annawan, and Shawn, Poplar Grove, Ill.; sisters, Judy Lopez, Marge (Reese)
Constant, Loretta Roseman and Karen Pratt; 13 grandchildren; two
great-granddaughters; special friends, Lynne Rychert, Wayne Lewis, Dwayne Loette
and John Zantow. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Ronald;
and sister, Mildred.
