Nathaniel "Nate" Lee Lawrence

Nathaniel “Nate” L. Lawrence, 80, of East Moline, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2023.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, East Moline. Pastor P. Wonder Harris will officiate.  Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at the church.  Burial will follow at The Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made to the  family C/O Charlotte Harper.  Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., is assisting the family. 

Nathaniel Lee Lawrence was born October 27, 1942 in Moline, IL; the second child of Warren and Syvada (Wilson) Lawrence.  He was 1960 graduate of United Township High School, East Moline. Nate was the manager of a music group, The Time, after high school. Nate had a telemarketing business in Bettendorf, IA. He was the director of Polyrhythms.  On the day before his passing, Nate was a guest on the Paula Sands Live Show on KWQC TV, promoting the Polyrhythms Bill Bell Jazz and Heritage Festival the weekend of August 19 and 20th.  He traveled around the world to listen to Jazz musician, accompanied with his cousin, Donald Meade. Nate was a big kid at heart with all his nieces and nephews.   Nate will be dearly missed.

Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Warren G. Lawrence, Jr., Vacaville, CA, his sister, Charlotte (Charlie) Harper, East Moline, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren G.  and Syvada Lawrence, his siblings, Claudie Lawrence, Clarence Lawrence, Shirley Lawrence, Harold Lawrence, and Bernice Lawrence-Brown.
