Memorial to Staff Sergeant Carl H. Haynes


 

Staff Sergeant Carl H. Hanes' Army Serial Number (Dog Tag) was 38 292 192.


 

He was a member of: 30th Division, 1st Battalion, 117th Regiment, Company A.


 

He was killed in action at the Battle of the Bulge on December 18, 1944. The battle started on December 16th. His company attacked the Germans from the north of Bastogne in bloody fighting.


 

He won the Combat Service Medal and the Purple Heart and possibly more. He was a hero who gave his life for his country.

 

He is buried at Caraway Cemetery, Caraway, Craighead County, Arkansas, USA.
