Melvin L. Malmloff, 70, of Silvis, died on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, on Melvin's birthday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society.Melvin was born on Oct. 23, 1941, in East Moline, the son of August J. and Bertha E. Timmerman Malmloff. He married Patricia S. Clark on Feb. 13, 1971, in Silvis.
Melvin worked as a policeman for the city of Silvis Police Department and was the first K9 officer in the Quad-Cities. Also, Melvin was the owner and operator of Red Carpet Limousine and co-owner and operator of a pool hall in East Moline. He was an avid boater and motorcycle enthusiast with a passion for cars.
Survivors include, his wife of 41 years, Patricia Malmloff, Silvis; first wife, Janet Pearson Strader, Florida; sons, Chris (Nancy) Malmloff, Moline, Erik (Jenifer) Malmloff, Moline; daughter, Kathy Horrell, Bettendorf; grandchildren, Brittany (Anthony) Ranson, Caroline Horrell, Izzy Horrell; sister, Marion Holmes, Florida; and several cousins.
