Bettyann Johnson, 70, East Moline, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2012 after a courageous battle with Scleroderma, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services are 1PM Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 4PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ the King Church, where she was a member.
Bettyann was born March 10, 1942 in Moline, the daughter of Robert and Gilberta (Versieck) Van De Velde. She attended St. Mary's grade school and graduated from UTHS. She married David Johnson on July 21, 1962 at St. Mary's Church, East Moline. She had worked for Bituminus Insurance, and later as a physical therapist at Illini Hospital, Silvis, retiring in 1976. Bettyann enjoyed traveling, working in her flowerbeds and growing her indoor plants. If you sat at her table, you would never leave her home hungry.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, David, daughter Michele Johnson Castaneda, Moline, son Michael Johnson, East Moline, grandchildren, Anthony Castaneda, Moline, Nicholas Castaneda, Colona and Beverly Castaneda, Milan, sister Leona Van De Velde, Blanco, TX, sister-in-law Pamela Sigafoos, Spicer, MN and many other family and friends.
