Kathleen Anne Roberson, age 74 of Rolla, MO, went to heaven August 26, 2017.
Kathleen was born November 21, 1942 in Moline, IL, the daughter of Odell and
Alice (Van den Berghe) Hill.
Kathleen was kind and generous to everyone she met. After high school, she
attended Davenport's Marycrest College, earning a BA in biology with minors
in Spanish and chemistry. One of her favorite activities while in school was
working as editor of the Spanish newspaper, where she designed Spanish
crossword puzzles.
Her career in medical technology began at Carle Clinic & Hospital in
Champaign-Urbana. After moving to Evanston, IL, she worked in immuno-chemistry
for
Northwestern
University. She has been enjoying retirement since January 2010, after
working in the laboratories of 14 different hospitals. The last 25 years of
her career were dedicated to working in the laboratory at Phelps County
Regional Medical Center in Rolla, MO, where she managed quality improvement
in addition to being a technologist.
Kathleen lived in six different states including Illinois, Florida,
Colorado, Texas, Virginia, and Missouri. In her many moves and travels, she
explored as far west as Los Angeles, as far north as Alaska, as far south as
Catalina, and as far east as Virginia.
Her many hobbies included embroidery, reading mystery novels, and watching
tennis. She was a devout Catholic and an avid bridge player, but her
favorite craft was knitting. She volunteered to knit caps for newborns at
the local hospital, and her yarn collection was her biggest vice, with many
skeins inherited from her mother.
Kathleen's most cherished accomplishment was being a beloved mother of
three, and a grandmother to three beautiful and gifted grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her three children, David Roberson,
Rolla, MO; Anne Hill (husband Peter Zimmerman, grandchildren Dell, Zoe, and
Wynne), Chattanooga, TN; Aimee Roberson, Trinidad, CO, and brothers Tom
(wife Gail) Hill, IN, and Richard (wife Peggy) Hill, IL. She was preceded in
death by her parents, Odell and Alice Hill, her sister Patricia Fetter, and
her brother Jerry Hill.
Forthcoming will be a Catholic mass at St.Patrick's church in Rolla, MO on
October 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., a celebration of her life for family and
friends in November, and burial with her parents in East Moline, IL.
Memorials can be sent to 42 McFarland Drive, Rolla, MO 65401.
