
Almeda Freeman Carmichael

Almeda Carmichael, 83, of East Moline, Illinois, peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord on April 27, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis Silvis Medical Center surrounded by her loving husband and family. Almeda was born August 28, 1942 at 612 13-Street East Moline to Luther and Mella Freeman. She graduated from United Township High School in 1961. She was employed by the East Moline State Hospital as a patient-aide. She worked for John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline for 28 years retiring in 2001.
Almeda,enjoyed bowling, softball, puzzles and playing solitaire on her tablet. She played softball for Smitty’s women’s softball team. She was an avid bowler for many years at Sams and Town & Country bowling alleys.
Almeda leaves behind her devoted husband (Joe) East Moline, two children, Brent, Atlanta, GA and Dawnya Robinson (Demetrius) Calumet City, IL, six grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren, four brothers, Dr. Kenneth Freeman (Dr. Louise) Flossmoor, IL, Rawland “Pepsi” Freeman (Lisa), Cedar Rapids, IA, Reginald “Reggie” Freeman (Lena) East Moline and Duane Tinsley, Moline, IL a host of nieces, nephews and cousins as well as many special friends and sisters in Christ.
She was preceded in death by her father, Luther Freeman Jr. her mother, Mella Tinsley, and grandchild to Mella (Milton Anderson) and great grandchildren, Malik Freeman and Brice Allen.
A Celebration of Life will be at 9:00 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2026 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, East Moline, Illinois. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Pastor Christopher Shumebert will officiate. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
