Patricia Payne, 71, of Bushnell, Ill., passed away at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013, peacefully at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 19, at the Community Christian Center, Bushnell, where visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 18. The Rev. Terry Broady will officiate. Interment will be at the Bushnell Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the McDonough District Hospital Hospice Program or to the Bushnell Fire Rescue Squad. Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, Bushnell, is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Feb. 23, 1942, in Coal Valley, to Harry E. and Catherine R. Blunk Doxsee. She married Larry E. Payne on Sept. 8, 1961, in Rock Island.
Patricia, known to her family as "Pudgy," worked at the Ben Franklin Dime Store, Blue Bell Inc. and other various jobs before going to work at NTN Bowers in 1966. She retired from NTN Bowers on July 31, 2011, after 45-plus years.
She enjoyed crafts, embroidering, making gift baskets, bird watching and yard sales. She loved spending time with her girlfriends, especially their shopping trips. Pat enjoyed "doing for others"; she was very selfless in her actions as she would go out of her way to help anyone at any time. Pat's favorite time was spent watching her grandchildren in their various activities. She and her husband, Larry, enjoyed 51 wonderful years of marriage.
Surviving are her husband, Larry; two children, Christine (Kevin Kreps) Payne, Bushnell, and Larry (Jena) Payne Jr., Table Grove, Ill.; and four grandchildren, Devin (Adam) Kozicki, Tanner, Adam and Lydia Payne. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; one sister; and nephew, Jonathan Shattuck.
