Tips On Local Customs And
Regulations
-
Never bargain with shop keepers in any other currency except in the
local currency. Watch out for the Moroccan Banana scam. Example: You pay $20
US for $2 worth of banana's. The seller gives you back $18 in
worthless currency with your $2 banana's.
-
When eating in a restaurant, be aware that a
service charge and/or a sitting charge may be added to your bill.
-
Be aware of local customs before your visit a
particular country to avoid insults and trouble.
-
It is an insult to most Third World shop keeper's
not to bargain. Start at 10% of asking price. In some cases, you need not
offer more the 30% of asking price.
-
Never buy goods made of animal skins. They will be
taken away at customs.
-
In some countries, wash clothes are not available
in hotel room. Take your own and keep in a plastic bag when wet.
-
Keep a listing of everything that you purchase.
You will need it for custom's declarations back in the
U.S.
