Tips
Air Travel
-
Always carry one change of clothes/underwear on
your airline carry-on bag in case your luggage is lost.
-
At the airport, ensure that the agent correctly
identifies final destination of your luggage and that you have bag receipts
for every item. Many pieces of luggage have been lost because the ticket agent
marks an incorrect destination on the tag.
-
Most Airline tickets today are Electronic which
means that no paper documents are issued. In order to use these tickets, you
must carry a valid ID for the issuing agent. Otherwise, handle all paper
tickets like cash money, and always carry
these on you in a money belt.
-
Always reconfirm your flight reservations with
the airline agent 3 days before you leave or return.
-
Take a small shaving or toiletry kit on plane with
you to freshen up with before your plane lands. However, no sharp instruments
are allowed in the planes cabin.
-
Do not eat a heavy meal before your trip. Drink
lots of fluids before and during your air flights.
-
Do not drink alcohol during your flight ( I always
break this rule.).
-
Go to bed 2 hours earlier than usual on the day
before your flight going east and 2 hours later going west
-
Always check into the airport at least 1 -1/2 to 2
hours ahead of when your international flight leaves for security checks and to avoid losing your seat
or seat selection. Add an extra 1/2 hour if you are dropping a rental car.
-
Eye covers are very nice to have to sleep on the
flight over/or back, but not necessary. They can be purchased on the plane
(sometimes they are free).
-
A photograph of your luggage is handy in case your
luggage is lost. Carry the photo in your carry on luggage.
-
Immediately upon taking your seat on the airplane
determine the location of the air sickness bag.
